Hello everybody! It’s that wonderful time of year again…that time of delicious mulled wine! Many people have asked me how to make mulled wine. So I thought I would take some time and go over the basics of mulling wine.  Because it is just so delicious and you need to try it for yourself.  So here is a step by step with instructions.  And then there’s a surprise at the end just for you.

Ingredients:   (which are listed with every mulled spice bag from Deer Creek Winery)

       1 ½ C water

       1 ½ C juice

       ⅓ – ½ C sugar

       Enclosed spice packets (4)

Bottle of the wine of your choice (750 mL)

So for this example I did for you guys today, I used our Backwoods Blackberry Wine and white grape juice. But there are a lot of varieties that would work.  Peach Blossom, Pear, Autumn Breeze (apple), Buck Run Blue (blueberry), Cranberry Mist, Rustic Red….the possibilities are endless.  And you can mix it up with what kind of juice is added too!  We also used a crock-pot, but you can also put it on the stove in a pot.  Mulled wine is also great chilled too! It’s like this magical liquid that tastes good in all conditions. It is also a good way to make your house smell good for your Christmas guests coming over! Just put the ingredients in the crock-pot or on the stove and your whole house will smell like Christmas.

You should comment with your favorite mulled wine recipe so that we can all try it out!  Spread the joy.

So here are the ingredients we used:

And of course the bottle of wine!

If in a hurry, you only need the spices to steep in the hot liquid for about 10 minutes.  However, if you want the smell to last for a long time, steep everything but the wine for however long you want and then add the wine when you are ready to drink it and enjoy! (The alcohol will evaporate away if left on the heat for too long.)

Now without further ado, a video on how to make mulled wine.  My brother lovingly helped me out. So two Brooks’ video, just for you.
