Ribs & Wine – A Little Taste of Heaven
I think it is safe to say that nothing tastes more like heaven on a winter’s day than a skillet or crock-pot full of slow cooked short ribs glazed in a red wine sauce. Paired with my favorite glass of Riesling, a fresh spring lettuce salad (with my own home-made blackberry ginger dressing), and a good book (essential for the long cooking times) – you, my friends, have the perfect winter’s day comfort food.
Whatever rib recipe you choose, here are my suggestions for pairing on of our finest Deer Creek wines. First, I prefer our Riesling. It does not overpower the food, allowing for the palate to savor every rich, delicious bite.
Second, our medium-bodied Shippenville Red is a sure winner. This sweet, fruity Fredonia wine will create a sensory that is guaranteed to please.
Third would be our dryer red wine Rustic Red. This wine is great in the glaze and for pairing with the meal as well.
Here are a few recipes and links to get your taste of heaven started in the right direction:
